The gîte

The gîte at La Volee is available to let year-round at 75 euro per night or negotiable rates for longer periods, minimum stay two nights. It is a charming old building that has been completely renovated and extended to a high standard – see the walk-through here. As described on the video link above, the gîte is comfortable year-round, with a wood-burner for cooler nights and underfloor gas-fired heating in the winter. The views are lovely.

The farmhouse

The farmhouse is the largest house on the farm with five bedrooms and is offered to new partners to live in (see partnership opportunity). Until then it is available to let at a lower rate than the gite because although very comfortable, it requires a new lick of paint!  At present it is used by volunteers and during workations. The farmhouse can be seen here. It has a lovely garden by one of the horse pastures with space for tents, eating out and a firepit.

The apartment

The apartment is a large one-up one-down space at the entrance to the farm overlooking the orchard, with kitchenette, shower and loo. It is undergoing redecoration by friends of La Volee and will be used by them in school holidays when they come down to help on the farm. Other volunteers and visitors can stay there too and it can also be hired out for weekend workshops or the like, with its workspace downstairs and large, light group room above.

Camping

The farm is not registered as a campsite, but there is space for tents, a caravan with hammock under the apple trees, and parking space for a campervan. There is an expansive view to the north over the bocage countryside from the back of Erica’s house with a second, private entrance that can be used by a van.

Erica’s house

Erica’s house is a charming old Norman farmhouse converted from a cattle barn attached to a small cottage. It has three bedrooms and spare bedrooms are sometimes used by volunteers or to provide overflow accommodation for visitors.

The barn

The barn has planning permission to be restored to a house – it must have been the old manor house and the lintel says 1600 – but Sarah and David decided to renovate the cottage now called the gite instead. The barn is currently used for storage. At the end is a cattle barn with loft above that could be made into an apartment like the one on the other end of the barn. The cattle barn part currently serves as a tack room. Upstairs would make a lovely art studio if not used for accommodation.
